Maria made her way from the crowded lobby down the hall to her office. As she walked, several heads turned. Maria was one of those beautiful women that simply had no idea just how stunning she really was - yet, when she was in the room, all eyes tended to be looking her way.
Setting down her briefcase, Maria quickly browsed through the messages on her desk. Her assistant, Melanie, was absolutely wonderful. She kept everything so organized and running smoothly and Maria knew she was blessed to have her around. Smiling, as she noticed a message from her best friend, Angela, Maria decided that hers would be the first call she returned.
"Hi girlfriend!" Maria smiled into the phone, as she heard Angela's voice. "Well hi yourself," Angela replied, "You're calling back early!" Maria laughed and admitted that she was hoping that they'd be able to get together for lunch. Angela confirmed that she was free and they decided to meet at their favourite diner around the corner. "I'll be glad to see you, Angie," Maria said, as she was about to hang up. "I want to get an idea of how you feel about dating sites." Angela started to laugh and only said, "What?!" before Maria giggled and hung up.
In spite of her good looks, Maria was absolutely lacking a passionate love life. It seemed that the only men who approached her were clients or co-workers and she didn't feel comfortable dating in either of those realms. She wanted someone that wasn't connected to her work. She wanted a friend and she wanted a lover. She was also starting to wonder if dating sites represented the only avenue for her to find such a man.
After a hectic morning, Maria was thrilled to be seated across from Angela at the diner. "So what's this about dating sites??" Angela questioned. Maria laughed into her water glass as she replied, "It's just something I've been thinking about Angie. I never seem to meet any nice guys anymore and I'm tired of all the stuffed shirts that fill my days at the office." Angela giggled. "I guess I understand what you mean, Maria... I mean, you don't exactly work at The Gap!" "Exactly," Maria snickered, "I want to meet someone young... well at least around my age, not like all the older men that I have to work with every day. I want someone that will bring fun into my life and not just seriousness and obligation. I thought that maybe if I signed up on some dating sites, I'd have more of a chance to find that."
Looking across the table, Angela wondered how someone so beautiful and so self-assured could be lacking in companionship. Maria was a wonderful woman and she deserved the best in a partner. If dating sites were the way she wanted to go about finding that, Angela was prepared to settle in and help as best she could.
